Mountain railway Innsbrucker Nordkettenbahnen

Today closed
Innsbruck

With the Hungerburgbahn, the Seegrubenbahn and the Hafelekarbahn, there is only a 20-minute ride between Innsbruck city center and the high alpine terrain of the Nordkette at 2,256 meters above sea level. In addition, there are almost 1,700 meters of altitude, a temperature difference of around 10 degrees and plenty of rock, over which the Nordkette cable cars glide with ease.

We recommend because:

  • ...fantastic hikes are possible on the mountain ridge of the Nordkette with views of Innsbruck and the Karwendel Nature Park
  • ...the ride on the Hungerburgbahn designed by Zaha Hadid is an architectural experience in a class of its own
  • ...every first Friday of the month, the Seegrubenbahn runs at night until 11.30 pm

Snowpark Shaper

A northern light on the Seegrube

Snowboarding and Innsbruck go together like chips and ketchup. The Alpine city has earned its reputation as the cradle of the sport in Europe thanks in part to its snowpark. Behind the "Skylinepark" is Bjarni Thor Valdimarsson, a Tyrolean by choice.
